Overhaul

Seat Cushion - Front

Disassembly

NOTE: For parts identification and location, refer to Seat - Exploded View, Front Seat - Exploded View, Front.

NOTE: An Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) system service kit has the electrical connector glued to the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM). It cannot and should not be disconnected or altered. To remove and install an OCS system service kit, refer to Occupant Classification Sensor procedure in Restraint Systems.

NOTE: Note all wire harness routing for correct installation.

All seats

1. Remove the seat cushion cover. For additional information, refer to Seat Cushion Cover - Front Seat Cushion Cover - Front.

2. Remove the seat track. For additional information, refer to Seat Track - Manual Seat Track - Manual or Seat Track - Power Seat Track - Power.

3. If equipped, detach the heated seat wire harness from the cushion frame and disconnect the heated seat system electrical connector(s).

4. Remove the cushion foam pad.

Passenger seat

5. Bend to release the tab and remove the pressure sensor from the bracket.

6. NOTICE: To prevent system failure, do not oversize the seat cushion frame holes used to rivet the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) in place.
Using a 5 mm (0.19 in) drill, remove the 2 rivets and separate the OCSM from the cushion frame.

7. Release the 2 pin-type retainers and separate the bladder from the cushion frame.

8. NOTE: Note the cushion frame opening that the OCS components and seat wire harness are being routed through for correct installation.

Remove the OCS system from the cushion frame.
- Feed the hose, pressure sensor, wire harness, electrical connector and OCSM through the opening in the seat cushion frame.

All seats

9. Release all remaining wire harness pin-type retainer(s) and remove from the cushion frame.

Assembly

NOTICE: Do not reinstall any heater mat or foam pad after removal. The adhesive will not adhere correctly to the foam pad, causing it to bunch up or shift out of place. A new heater mat and a new foam pad must be installed. Failure to follow these instructions can result in heated seat component damage and system failure.

Passenger seat

NOTICE: Do not install a new heater mat on a front passenger seat cushion. Install a new Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) system service kit. Failure to follow this instruction can cause incorrect OCS system operation. Refer to Restraint Systems for the Occupant Classification Sensor Removal and Installation procedure.

1. NOTICE: While positioning the seat cushion frame and Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) system assembly, be careful not to damage any of the components. Failure to do so may result in component failure.

Position the OCS components to the cushion frame opening as noted during removal.

- Feed the hose, pressure sensor, wire harness, electrical connectors and OCSM through the opening in the cushion frame.

2. Install the 2 OCS system bladder pin-type retainers to the seat cushion frame assembly.

3. Position the OCSM onto the seat cushion frame bracket and install the new rivets.
- Make sure the OCSM is correctly secured to the bracket.

4. Bend the retaining tab back on the pressure sensor bracket.

5. Install the pressure sensor onto the cushion frame bracket, making sure the retaining tab is completely engaged.
- When installed correctly, an audible click will be heard and the pressure sensor will not be able to be removed from its bracket without disengaging the retaining tab.

All seats

6. Install the seat wire harness and retainers to the cushion frame as noted during removal.

7. Install the seat cushion foam pad.

8. If equipped, attach the heated seat system wire harness to the cushion frame and connect the electrical connector(s).

9. Install the seat track. For additional information, refer to Seat Track - Manual Seat Track - Manual or Seat Track - Power Seat Track - Power.

10. Install the seat cushion cover. For additional information, refer to Seat Cushion Cover - Front Seat Cushion Cover - Front.
