Brake Shift Interlock Actuator - Floor ShiftRemoval
1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.
2. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to Console.
3. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable from the floor shift.
1. Disconnect the cable from the bracket.
2. Disconnect the cable from the shift cam.
4. Remove the LH lower instrument panel trim.
^ To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs).
5. Disconnect 4 electrical connectors.
6. Remove the steering column support bracket.
1. Remove the diagnostic electrical connector bolts.
2. Remove the steering column support bracket bolts.
7. Remove the nuts and lower the steering column.
^ To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs).
8. Disconnect the shift interlock electrical connector.
9. Remove the 2 bolts.
10. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable and actuator assembly.
Installation
1. NOTE: Check for correct interlock operation. The ignition key should be removable only with the transaxle range selector lever in PARK. The transaxle range selector lever should be locked in the PARK position with the key removed.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
