Removal
CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
1. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) line-to-power steering pump fitting.
2. Disconnect the PSP line-to-steering gear fitting.
3. Remove the PSP line retainer bracket bolt.
4. Remove the 2 PSP line retainer bracket nuts.
5. Remove the PSP line.
Installation
1. NOTE: Whenever a line fitting with a Teflon (R) O-ring seal is disconnected, a new Teflon (R) O-ring seal must be installed.
Using the special tool, install a new Teflon (R) O-ring seal on the PSP line fittings.
2. Position the PSP line.
3. Install the 2 PSP line retainer bracket nuts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
4. Install the PSP line retainer bracket bolt.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Connect the PSP line-to-steering gear fitting.
^ To install, tighten to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
6. Connect the PSP line-to-power steering pump fitting.
^ To install, tighten to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
7. Fill and leak check the power steering system.
