Spark Plug: Service and Repair

Removal







1. CAUTION: It is important to twist the spark plug wire boots while pulling along the axis of the spark plug to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wires.

Using the special tool, with a twisting motion disconnect the 6 spark plug wires from the spark plugs.

2. Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.

3. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.

Remove the 6 spark plugs.

Installation







1. Inspect the 6 spark plugs.







2. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.

3. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.

Install the 6 spark plugs.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).

4. CAUTION: Make sure the spark plug boots are positioned so that the spark plug wires do not contact the exhaust manifold, or any sharp edges.

NOTE: Apply silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to the inside of the spark plug wire-to-spark plug boots.

Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
