WARNING: Use of any other than approved DOT 3 brake fluid will cause permanent damage to brake components and will render the brakes inoperative.
WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.
CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
2. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
3. Use a suitable suction device to drain the brake fluid reservoir.
4. NOTE: The pins may be reused.
If equipped with ABS and traction control, remove the 2 brake fluid reservoir pins.
5. Using a suitable tool, remove the brake fluid reservoir.
6. Remove the 2 brake fluid reservoir grommets.
7. NOTE: Whenever installing a new brake fluid reservoir, install new grommets.
NOTE: Lubricate the grommets using DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid before installing the grommets into the master cylinder, and before installing the reservoir.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Fill the reservoir with DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid.
