Safety Belt Retractor - Rear

SAFETY BELT RETRACTOR - REAR







Removal

WARNING: All safety belt assemblies (including retractors, belt tension sensor [BTS] if equipped, buckles, shoulder belt height adjuster [if equipped], child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware) should be inspected after any collision. All new belt assemblies should be installed new unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and new assemblies installed if either damage or incorrect operation is noted. Failure to follow these instructions could increase the risk of injury in collisions.

1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Remove the safety belt anchor bolt.
3. Fold the rear seat backrests down.
4. Remove the package tray trim panel.
5. Remove the bolt and the safety belt retractor.

Installation

CAUTION: The shipping clip on a new retractor must remain attached prior to the installation of the retractor into the vehicle. The clip must be removed after the retractor is installed.

NOTE: Make sure the safety belt is not twisted when inserting it in the package tray trim panel.

1. Position the safety belt retractor and install the bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

2. Install the package trim panel.

3. NOTE: The anti-rotation tab must be correctly aligned for correct installation.

Install the safety belt anchor and bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

4. Fold the rear seat backrests up.
5. Install the rear seat cushion.
6. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
