Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair
EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CANISTER PURGE VALVERemoval and Installation
WARNING: The evaporative emission system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel is present in the area. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve electrical connector.
3. NOTE: The upper vapor tube has an identification tag attached on the end of tube near the quick connect coupling. If this vapor tube is removed or replaced make sure that the end with the identification tag is reconnected to the upper EVAP canister purge valve port.
Disconnect the 2 vapor tube-to-EVAP canister purge valve quick connect couplings.
4. Depress the release tab and remove the EVAP canister purge valve from the mounting bracket.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
6. Carry out the evaporative emission system leak test. Testing and Inspection
7. Carry out the evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle.
