Removal and Installation

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.

1. Remove the camshaft roller followers.

2. CAUTION: If the hydraulic lash adjusters are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same position. Mark the hydraulic lash adjusters for installation into the original location.

Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
- Inspect the hydraulic lash adjusters.
3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate each of the hydraulic lash adjusters with clean engine oil prior to installation.
