Normal Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) generates a voltage signal to the rear window defrost switch through circuit 1010 (DB/OG). The rear window defrost switch is grounded through circuit 651 (BK/YE). When the switch is engaged and the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the SJB supplies a ground signal and activates the rear window defrost relay 1. This supplies voltage to the relay center box 1 on circuit 186 (BN/LB) and activates rear window defrost relay 2. The rear window defrost relay 2 provides voltage to the rear window defrost grid on circuit 185 (BK). The rear window defrost grid is grounded through circuit 57 (BK). The SJB maintains the ground signal for 10 minutes or until the switch is selected OFF or the ignition switch is turned to OFF or ACC.
Possible Causes
- fuse(s)
- circuit 57 (BK) open
- circuit 185 (BK) open or short to ground
- circuit 186 (BN/LB) open
- circuit 1001 (WH/YE) open
- circuit 1010 (DB/OG) open
- rear window defrost relay 1
- relay center box 1 rear window defrost relay 2
- rear window defrost switch
