Installation
1. Install the rear engine support bracket and bolts.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the shift cable bracket.
^ Tighten to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the anti-roll restrictor bracket and the bolts.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the anti-roll restrictor and bolt.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
5. NOTE: Locate and align the orange dot adjacent to the stud on the torque converter and place it in the 6 o'clock position.
Install the transaxle.
^ Position the transaxle on a suitable transmission jack.
^ Apply multi-purpose grease to the torque converter pilot hub.
6. Install the engine-to-transaxle bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the transaxle retaining bolt.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the transaxle retaining bolt.
^ Tighten to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
9. Install new torque to flexplate nuts.
^ Tighten to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the transmission housing cover.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
11. Install the starter motor.
12. Install the LH halfshaft.
13. Install the RH halfshaft.
14. CAUTION: If the steering gear was removed with the subframe and there is evidence that the steering column intermediate shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be recentered before the vehicle is driven or damage to the clockspring can result.
Install the subframe assembly.
15. Remove the LH Engine Lifting Bracket.
16. Remove the RH Engine Lifting Bracket.
17. Remove the special tools.
18. Install the bolts.
^ Tighten to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
19. Reconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
20. Install the transmission fluid cooler tube retaining clips.
21. Install the bracket and ground cable.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).)
22. Verify that the digital transmission range (TR) sensor is correctly adjusted.
23. Install the manual control lever cable and nut.
1 Install the manual control lever cable into the bracket.
2 Install the nut.
^ Tighten to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
24. Reconnect the turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor connector.
25. Reconnect the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor.
26. Install the electrical connector bracket.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
27. Install the power steering line bracket.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
28. Reconnect the connector.
29. Reconnect the TR and transaxle electrical connector.
30. Install the battery tray and connect the relay box.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
31. Install the air filter assembly.
32. Install the engine air cleaner.
33. Reconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.
34. Install the battery.
35. Fill the transaxle using clean automatic transmission fluid.
36. Start the engine. Move the transaxle range selector lever through all positions. Check the fluid level.
