Removal and Installation
CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation is necessary. Do not use a new part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
CAUTION: Do not use power tools to remove or install the nuts. The stabilizer bar link ball joints or boots can be damaged.
NOTE: To remove the nuts, first loosen the nuts, then use the hex holding feature to prevent the stabilizer bar link ball joints from turning while removing the nuts.
2. Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link upper nut, then disconnect the stabilizer bar link.
^ To install, tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link lower nut, then disconnect and remove the stabilizer bar link.
^ To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
4. NOTE: To install the stabilizer bar link nuts, use the hex holding feature to prevent the stabilizer link ball joints from turning while installing the nuts until snug. Final tighten the nuts using a socket and a torque wrench.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Always install new stabilizer bar link nuts.
