Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Digital Transmission Range (TR) SensorSpecial Tool(s):
Removal
1. Place the transaxle range selector lever in NEUTRAL.
2. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner.
4. Remove the air filter assembly.
5. Disconnect the TR sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the shift cable and manual control lever.
1 Remove the manual control lever nut.
2 Remove the shift cable and manual control lever.
7. Remove the digital TR sensor bolts and the TR sensor.
Installation
1. Verify that the shift selector lever is in NEUTRAL.
2. Install the digital TR sensor and loosely install the bolts.
3. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten the bolts.
^ Tighten to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the connector.
5. Install the shift cable and manual control lever nut.
1 Install the shift cable into the bracket.
2 Install the manual control lever nut.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.)
6. Install the air filter assembly.
7. Install the engine air cleaner.
8. Reconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.
9. Check for correct vehicle operation.
