Test V: The Theft Warning Indicator Is Never/Always on

PINPOINT TEST V: THE THEFT WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

V1-V4:

V4-V7:

V8:

Normal Operation
The theft warning indicator receives voltage from the SJB fuse 33 (15A) through circuit 385 (RD/WH). The circuit continues from the instrument cluster through circuit 343 (DB/LG) to the PCM which provides a ground path to illuminate the indicator when required. The indicator will prove out for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START under normal operation. If there is a PATS problem, this indicator will either flash rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START. The PATS system also flashes the theft indicator every two seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual deterrent.

Possible Causes
- circuit 343 (DB/LG) open or short to ground
- circuit 385 (WH/RD) open
- PCM
- instrument cluster
