Removal
1. Park the windshield wiper arms in the highest position on the windshield.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
3. Remove the 3 retaining clips (2 shown) and the RH cowl panel grille.
4. Remove the clip on the RH cowl extension panel.
5. Remove the 3 screws and the RH cowl extension panel.
6. Remove the exhaust manifold to exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve tube. For additional information, refer to Emission Control Systems.
7. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
8. Remove the 3 bolts and the exhaust manifold heat shield.
9. Remove the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to exhaust manifold bolts.
10. Remove the 6 bolts and the exhaust manifold.
^ Discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
Installation
1. Position a new exhaust manifold gasket and install the exhaust manifold and 6 bolts.
^ Tighten in the sequence shown, in 2 stages:
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to exhaust manifold bolts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield and 3 bolts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
4. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
5. Install the exhaust manifold to EGR valve tube. For additional information, refer to Emission Control Systems.
6. Install the RH cowl extension panel and the 3 screws.
7. Install the clip on the RH cowl extension panel.
8. Install the RH cowl panel grille and the 3 retaining clips.
9. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
