Exhaust Manifold - LHSpecial Tool(s):
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
2. Remove the oil level indicator and tube.
3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the power steering pressure tube (PSP) from the power steering pump.
5. Remove the PSP tube bracket nut and position the tube aside.
6. Remove the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to exhaust manifold nuts.
7. Remove the 4 exhaust manifold bolts and the 2 stud bolts.
8. Remove the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold gasket.
^ Discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
Installation
1. Position a new exhaust manifold gasket and install the exhaust manifold.
2. Install the 4 exhaust manifold bolts and the 2 stud bolts.
^ Tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages:
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to exhaust manifold nuts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Reposition the PSP tube and install the PSP tube bracket nut.
^ Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
5. Using the special tool, install a new seal on the PSP tube fitting.
6. Connect the PSP tube to the power steering pump.
^ Tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
7. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
8. Install the oil level indicator and tube.
9. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
10. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
