Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
3. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
4. Remove the RH fender splash shield.
5. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the 2 bolts and the CKP sensor.
7. Remove the 4 bolts and the crankshaft pulley.
8. Remove the crankshaft damper bolt and washer.





9. Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft damper.

Installation





1. NOTE: If the crankshaft damper is not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

Using the special tool, install the crankshaft damper.
^ Coat the sealing surfaces of the crankshaft damper with clean engine oil.
^ Coat the crankshaft damper keyway with silicone gasket and sealant.
^ Install the crankshaft damper.
2. Install the crankshaft damper bolt and the washer.
^ Tighten to 145 Nm (107 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the CKP sensor and 2 bolts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
4. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the crankshaft pulley and 4 bolts.
^ Tighten to 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the RH fender splash shield.
7. Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
8. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
