Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Using the special tool, support the engine.
3. Install the engine lifting bracket on the right (back) hand side of the engine.
4. Install the engine lifting bracket on the left (front) hand side of the engine.
5. If equipped, remove the roll-restrictor bolt and nut.
- To install, tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).
6. Remove the catalytic converter.
7. NOTE: If equipped, remove the 5 pin-type retainers from the chin spoiler.
Remove the air dam.
1 Remove the 7 screws.
2 Remove the 3 bolts and the air dam.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
8. Remove the front tires and wheels.
9. Remove the 2 lower ball joint nuts.
- To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
10. Using the special tools. disconnect the ball joint from the lower arm.
11. Push the lower arm downward until the ball joint is free of the arm.
12. CAUTION: Use extreme care not to damage the boot seal. Do not use power tools to tighten the nut, or bearing and seal damage can result. Install the nut using the hex hold feature to prevent the stud from rotating.
Remove the 2 front stabilizer bar link nuts and disconnect the front stabilizer bar links.
- To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
13. Support the steering gear to prevent damage to the steering shaft.
14. Remove the 2 steering gear nuts.
- To install, tighten to 123 Nm (91 lb-ft).
15. Remove the 4 bolts holding the power steering line to the subframe.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
16. Remove the RH front engine mount nut.
- To install, tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
17. Remove the RH rear engine mount nut.
- To install, tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
18. Remove the 2 transmission insulator support bracket bolts from the frame.
- To install, tighten to 88 Nm (65 lb-ft).
19. Remove the 3 pin-type retainers from the RH subframe splash shield.
20. Using a suitable support table, support the subframe.
21. CAUTION: Make sure all hoses and the steering gear assembly are clear of subframe to prevent damage to these components when lowering the subframe.
Remove the 4 subframe bolts and lower the subframe from the vehicle.
22. NOTE: When installing the subframe bolts, tighten in sequence starting with the LH front, the RH front, and both rear bolts.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- With an assistant, align the subframe and tighten the subframe bolts
- Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
23. Check the front end alignment and adjust as necessary.
