FUEL LINES


4.0L SOHC Front Fuel Tubes:






4.6L (3V) Front Fuel Tubes:

Removal and Installation

WARNING:
- Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
- Do not carry personal electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers or audio equipment of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
- Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before servicing or disconnecting any of the fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing personal injury or a fire hazard.
- This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.


All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Release the fuel system pressure.
3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
4. Disconnect the vapor tube quick connect couplings from the evaporative emission canister purge valve.

Vehicles with 4.0L SOHC
5. Disconnect the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling at the fuel rail.

Vehicles with 4.6L (3V)
6. Disconnect the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling at the fuel rail.

All vehicles
7. Remove the 2 fuel bundle shield retaining bolts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

8. Remove the 2 fuel bundle shield retaining nuts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

9. Remove the fuel bundle shield pin-type retainer and position the fuel bundle shield aside.
10. Release the 2 tube retainer clips from the fuel supply tube and vapor tube.
11. Release the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling. tube.
12. Release the vapor tube quick connect coupling.
13. Remove the vapor tube retaining bolt.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

14. Disconnect the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling at the fuel filter and remove the intermediate fuel supply tube.
15. Release the fuel and vapor tubes from the remaining retainer clips.
16. Disconnect the rear fuel supply tube quick connect coupling from the fuel filter.
17. Remove the rear seat bottom and any insulation padding covering the fuel pump (FP) module.







18. Remove the FP module access cover.







19. Disconnect the rear fuel supply tube quick connect coupling from the FP module.
20. Disconnect the vapor tube quick coupling from the EVAP canister.
21. Remove the fuel and vapor tube assemblies.
22. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
