Convertible Top: Service and Repair: General Procedures

SYSTEM BLEEDING

1. Remove the hydraulic system from the vehicle.
2. Remove the fill plug at the end of the hydraulic pump.
3. Elevate the pump and motor assembly above the hydraulic lift cylinders.
4. With the hydraulic lift cylinders fully extended, fill the pump with automatic transmission fluid to the bottom of the fill hole and install the fill plug.

5. NOTE:
- Make sure the motor/pump is above the hydraulic lift cylinders before operating the motor/pump.
- Some noise squeal may be noticed due to the air in the hydraulic system.

Connect a 12 volt power source to the motor connector and with the cylinder rod eyes up, operate the motor until the cylinders are fully extended.

6. With the hydraulic lift cylinder rod eyes down, reverse the 12 volt connection and operate the motor until the cylinders are fully retracted.
7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 three times, ending with the hydraulic lift cylinders retracted.
8. Remove the fill plug and check the fluid level. If necessary, add automatic transmission fluid to the bottom of the fill hole.
9. Install the fill plug.
10. Install the hydraulic system in the vehicle.
