Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

2. Remove the driveshaft.

3. Remove the catalytic converter assembly.






4. Using a suitable transmission jack, support the transmission.

5. Remove the 4 transmission crossmember-to-floor pan screws.






6. Remove the transmission insulator-to-extension housing center screw and remove the transmission crossmember.






7. Remove and discard the transmission output shaft flange nut.






8. Using the Output Flange Remover, remove the output shaft flange.

9. NOTICE: The parking pawl, parking pawl return and parking pawl shaft may fall out during removal of the extension housing.






Remove the 7 extension housing screws and the extension housing.






10. Remove and discard the extension housing gasket.

Installation






1. Clean the extension housing and install a new eAension housing gasket. Make sure the parking pawl is installed correctly.

2. NOTE: Make sure the parking lever actuating rod is correctly seated into the case parking rod guide cup.






- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).






3. Using the Output Shaft Flange Installer and the Drive Pinion Flange Installer, install the output flange.






4. Install a new transmission output shaft flange nut.

- Tighten to 130 Nm (96 lb-ft).






5. Loosely install the transmission insulator-to-extension housing center screw.






6. Position the transmission crossmember in the vehicle and loosely install the transmission crossmember-to-floor pan screws.

7. NOTE: The transmission support insulator must be neutralized.

Slide the transmission support insulator forward, rearward and side-to-side until the gaps between the transmission support insulator and transmission crossmember are equal.






8. With the transmission support insulator neutralized, tighten the 4 transmission crossmember-to-floor pan screws.

- Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).






9. With the transmission support insulator neutralized, tighten the transmission insulator-to-extension housing center screw.

- Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).


10. Install the catalytic converter assembly.

11. Install the driveshaft.

12. Check the transmission fluid level.
