HESITATION ON ACCELERATION AFTER LONG CRUISE
FORD:
2005-2006 Mustang
ISSUE
Some 2005-2006 Mustangs may exhibit a hesitation on acceleration after a long cruise. After coming to a stop from a highway type cruise, some vehicles may experience a hesitation when the customer begins to accelerate. Air bubbles can form around the fuel pump during a long cruise and be ingested into the pump on acceleration causing a hesitation.
ACTION
Refer to Service Procedure for corrective action.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Perform normal Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04 diagnostics to isolate the concern to the fuel pump.
2. Replace the fuel pump per WSM, Section 310-01.
