LOOSE SEAT CUSHION COVER TRIM ON FRONT OF FRONT SEAT

FORD:
2005 Mustang

This article supersedes TSB 05-17-14 to update the Service Procedure.

ISSUE
Some 2005 Mustangs built before 5/10/2005 may exhibit the seat cushion cover front trim being loose on the front seat. The J-clip that holds the seat cushion cover trim to the front of the seat pan may not be fully engaging the flanges (slots) in the seat pan.

ACTION
Bend the four (4) seat pan flanges to allow proper engagement of the seat cover trim J-clips. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Pull back the seat cushion cover trim and foam to access the (4) flanges in the seat pan (Figure 1).

NOTE
FIGURES 1 AND 2 ONLY SHOW TWO (2) OF THE SEAT PAN FLANGES, THERE ARE FOUR (4) IN TOTAL.

2. Using a needle nose pliers, bend the inside lip of the four (4) flanges toward the rear of the seat, to open the flange slightly. Use a dime to gauge the new opening (Figure 2). The dime should fit tightly when pushed into the adjusted flange opening.

3. Reattach the seat cushion cover trim J-clip (they should snap into place). Pull slightly to check retention.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
