Steering Control Module: Description and Operation
- Ride control module (RCM): Located in luggage compartment on RH side attached to seat back.- The RCM contains a microprocessor which analyzes the vehicle speed sensor input continuously. With this information the RCM controls the power steering auxiliary actuator, thereby controlling the steering effort.
- The RCM microprocessor is programmed to perform a self-diagnostic check every 16 milliseconds. If a concern is detected, the microprocessor deactivates its output signals.
- The RCM is programmed to perform an on-board diagnostic procedure when activated by the service technician.
