Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair
SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIREDSteering Wheel Puller 211-014 (T67L-3600-A)
REMOVAL
1. Remove the driver side air bag module.
2. Remove and discard bolt retaining steering wheel to steering column.
NOTE: For proper steering wheel reinstallation, make sure front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
3. Install Steering Wheel Puller 211-014 (T67L-3600-A) and remove steering wheel. Route wire harness for air bag sliding contact through steering wheel as steering wheel is removed.
4. Remove Steering Wheel Puller 211-014 (T67L-3600-A). Turn steering wheel over and remove four screws retaining rear steering wheel cover to steering wheel.
5. Remove rear steering wheel cover. Turn steering wheel over.
6. Disconnect one horn plate wire connector on each side of steering wheel. Disconnect single, in-line wire connector in purple wire at center of steering wheel. Remove four screws retaining LH and RH speed control actuator switches to steering wheel. Remove speed control actuator switches from steering wheel.
NOTE: The speed control actuator switches are one-piece, connected by wiring.
INSTALLATION
1. Install LH and RH speed control actuator switches from rear of steering wheel. Reconnect electrical connectors and install four Phillips(R) head screws for LH and RH speed control actuator switches.
NOTE: For proper steering wheel installation, make sure front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
2. Install four screws retaining rear steering wheel cover to steering wheel.
NOTE: Use care to prevent trapping wires between steering wheel and rear steering wheel cover.
3. Install steering wheel to steering column using new retaining screw. Tighten Torx(R) screw retaining steering wheel to 34-46 Nm (25-34 lb-ft).
4. Route wires through retaining clips in rear steering wheel cover. Be sure wires are not trapped between LH or RH horn plate and steering wheel.
5. Install the driver side air bag module.
6. Check operation of speed control actuator switches.
