Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the two bolts retaining the accelerator control splash shield to the accelerator cable bracket. Remove the accelerator control splash shield.
2. Remove the accelerator cable snap-in nylon bushing from the accelerator pedal arm.
3. Remove the bolt retaining accelerator cable housing to the accelerator cable bracket.
4. Remove the accelerator cable housing from the dash panel by removing the two bolts retaining the accelerator cable retainer and the accelerator cable to the dash panel and pushing outward from inside passenger compartment.
5. Remove the cable end from the throttle body lever ball stud.
6. Remove the bolt retaining the accelerator cable to the accelerator cable bracket. Remove the accelerator cable from the slot in the accelerator cable bracket.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Align locator pin in the accelerator cable to hole in accelerator cable bracket.
- Tighten the cable-to-bracket bolt to 5-7 N.m (45-61 Lb-In).
- Tighten the screws retaining the accelerator cable to the dash panel to 1.6-2.2 N.m (15-19 Lb-In).
