Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

NOTE: A one-piece crankshaft rear oil seal is used.

Removal
1. Remove transaxle.

2. CAUTION: Use care to avoid scratching or damaging the oil seal surface or leakage may occur.

Using sharp awl, punch one hole into crankshaft rear oil seal metal surface between the seal lip and the cylinder block.
3. Screw in the threaded end of Jet Plug Remover 310-005 (T77L-9533-B). Use the Jet Plug Remover to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.

Installation
1. Lubricate crankshaft rear oil seal with Motorcraft Super Premium 5W30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.





2. Position crankshaft rear oil seal on Crankshaft Rear Seal Replacer 303-323 (T88L-6701-A). Position tool and crankshaft rear oil seal on rear of engine. Alternate bolt tightening to properly seat crankshaft rear oil seal.
3. Install transaxle.
