Transmission Mount: Service and Repair
Support Insulator, Engine and Transaxle
Removal
1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
2. Remove LH tire and wheel (1007) .
3. Place Rotunda High Lift Transmission Jack 014-00942 or equivalent under transaxle and support transaxle.
4. Remove nut retaining engine and transmission support insulator (6F063) to rear engine support bracket (6096)
5. Remove two through bolts retaining engine and transmission support insulator to front sub-frame (5C145) .
6. Raise transaxle with Rotunda High Lift Transmission Jack 014-00942 or equivalent (enough to unload engine and transmission support insulator ).
7. Remove bolts and nuts retaining rear engine support bracket to transaxle. If required, remove retaining studs from transaxle.
8. Remove rear engine support bracket by rotating counterclockwise to disengage upper stud on engine and transmission support insulator .
9. Remove engine and transmission support insulator .
Engine and Transmission Support:
Installation
1. Loosely install engine and transmission support insulator .
2. NOTE: If rear engine support retaining studs are removed from transaxle, the studs may be replaced with N605922-S36 bolts.
Attach rear engine support bracket to transaxle. Install studs to transaxle if removed. Tighten studs to 4.5-6.3 Nm (40-55 lb-in). Tighten retaining nuts and bolts to 54-72 Nm (40-53 lb-ft).
3. Attach engine and transmission support insulator to front sub-frame with two through bolts. Tighten bolts to 77-103 Nm (57-76 lb-ft).
4. Lower transaxle (enough to load engine and transmission support insulator ).
5. Attach engine and transmission support insulator to rear engine support bracket with nut. Tighten nut to 77-103 Nm (57-76 lb-ft).
6. Remove jack.
7. Install LH tire and wheel . Tighten lug nuts (1012) to 115-142 Nm (85-104 lb-ft).
9. Lower vehicle.
Support Insulator, Front Engine
3.0L (2V) Engine
Removal
1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
2. Place jack and wood block in suitable place under engine block.
3. Remove nuts retaining LH front engine support insulator (6038) and RH front engine support insulator to the front sub-frame (5C145) .
4. Raise engine with jack (enough to unload LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator ).
5. Remove two bolts retaining LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator from the A/C compressor mounting bracket (2882) and the transaxle case rear bracket (7E235) . Remove LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator .
Front Engine Support Insulators, 3.0L (2V) Engine:
Installation
1. Attach LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator to A/C compressor mounting brackets and the transaxle case rear bracket with two bolts. Tighten bolts to 60-80 Nm (45-59 lb-ft).
2. Lower engine down on front sub-frame .
3. Install nuts retaining LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator to front sub-frame . Tighten nuts to 77-103 Nm (57-76 lb-ft).
4. Remove jack and lower vehicle.
Engine and Transmission Support Insulators, 3.0L (2V) Engine:
3.0L (4V) and 3.4L SHO (4V) Engine
Removal
1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
2. Place jack and wood block in suitable place under engine block.
3. Remove nuts retaining LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator to front sub-frame .
4. Raise engine with jack (enough to unload LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator ).
5. Remove two retaining bolts from LH front engine support insulator and remove LH front engine support insulator from A/C compressor mounting bracket (3.0L) or front engine support mounting bracket (6031) (3.4L).
6. Remove through bolt from RH front engine support insulator and remove RH front engine support insulator from transaxle case rear bracket.
RH Engine Support Insulators, 3.0L (4V) Engine:
LH and RH Front Engine Support Insulators, 3.4L SHO Engine:
Installation
1. Attach LH front engine support insulator to A/C compressor mounting bracket (3.0L) or front engine support mounting bracket (3.4L) with two bolts. Tighten bolts to 60-80 Nm (45-59 lb-ft).
2. Attach RH front engine support insulator to transaxle case rear bracket with one through bolt. Tighten through bolt to 53-72 Nm (40-53 lb-ft).
3. Lower engine down onto front sub-frame .
4. NOTE: Because the anti-rotation hole of the front sub-frame is oversized, prevent the front engine support insulator from rotating when tightening to avoid noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) problems.
Install nuts retaining LH front engine support insulator and RH front engine support insulator to front sub-frame . Tighten nuts to 77-103 Nm (57-76 lb-ft).
5. Remove jack and lower vehicle.
