Attachment III - Technical Information

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Record the radio stations, then disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE:
The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) is connected to the rear of the interior fuse panel.





2. Remove the two (2) retaining nuts that hold the fuse panel to the mounting bracket. See Figure 1.

3. Pull downward on the fuse panel to disengage it from the mounting bracket.





4. From the backside of the fuse panel, remove the GEM retaining screw. See Figure 2.

5. Disengage locking tabs from each side of the GEM and separate the GEM from the fuse panel.

6. Disconnect the three (3) electrical connectors from the GEM and discard the GEM.

7. Connect the three (3) electrical connectors to the new GEM.

8. Install the GEM to the fuse panel and engage the locking tabs.

9. Install the GEM retaining screw. Tighten the screw to 1-2 Nm (9-17 lb-in).

10. Push the fuse panel upward into the mounting bracket.

11. Install the two (2) retaining nuts to hold the fuse panel to the mounting bracket. Tighten the nuts to 4-6 Nm (26-53 lb-in).

12. Connect the battery ground cable. Re-program the radio stations.
