Brake Adjuster: Service and Repair

1. Remove brake shoe adjusting screw spring. Spread brake shoe and lining apart at top. Remove brake adjuster screw and brake shoe adjusting lever.
2. Separate brake shoe adjusting screw socket from adjusting screw and unscrew adjusting screw from adjusting nut.
3. Clean and inspect threads.

4. To assemble, apply a light coat of Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or -K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B to threaded area of adjusting screw brake shoe adjusting screw socket. Assemble brake adjuster. Turn brake shoe adjusting pivot nut all the way down on screw and then back off one turn.
