Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

NOTE: A Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent scan tool is required for diagnosis. The Rotunda Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS) 001-00001 or equivalent may also be used to diagnose this system.

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the semi-active ride control system to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
Mechanical
^ Restricted suspension movement
^ Overloaded luggage compartment
Electrical
^ Open fuses:
^ Power distribution box Fuse 12 (20A)
^ Fuse junction panel Fuse 14 (5A)
^ Loose connectors
^ Corroded connectors
3. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If the concern remains after inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the semi-active ride control module, GO to Pinpoint Test F. If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test is passed for the semi-active ride control module, retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and execute Self Test Diagnostics for the semi-active ride control module to retrieve current DTCs.
5. Install battery charger to power system during testing.
6. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, GO to the Diagnosis By Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
7. If DTCs are retrieved, GO to the Semi_Active Ride Control (SARC) Indexes to continue diagnostics. Service self test DTCs first, then continuous DTCs.
8. If the semi-active ride control module cannot be accessed by the NGS, GO to Pinpoint Test F.
