Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch: Testing and Inspection


Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) Switch:






WARNING:IF YOU SEE OR SMELL GASOLINE AT ANY TIME OTHER THAN DURING FUELING, DO NOT RESET THE IFS.

Reset Instructions:

1. Turn ignition key off.

2. Check for fuel leaks in the engine compartment.

3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the IFS by pushing the reset button on the top of the switch (refer to Owner Guide).

NOTE: In the closed position, the button can be depressed an additional 1/16 inch against a spring.

4. Turn ignition key on or in start position for a few seconds, then off again.

5. Again, check for leaking fuel.
