Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Description and Operation

Purpose
To prevent the escape of harmful fuel vapors into the atmosphere.

Features
The fuel vapors from the fuel tank are stored in the carbon canister. When the vehicle is operating above idle, the vapors are purged from the canister into the engine for combustion. Taurus/Sable uses one, 2.0 liter canister.
