Air Diverter Valve: Service and Repair

Secondary Air Injection - 3.4L SHO Engine:

Removal and Installation
1. Remove air cleaner outlet tube.

2. Disconnect main emission vacuum control connector from secondary air injection diverter valve.

3. Completely loosen the secondary air injection manifold tube nut from the secondary air injection diverter valve.

4. Disconnect secondary air injection pump outlet hose from the secondary air injection diverter valve.

5. Remove two retaining bolts and the secondary air injection diverter valve.

6. If required, remove the secondary air injection manifold tube from the exhaust manifolds.

7. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

^ Tighten retaining bolts for AIR diverter valve to:8-12 Nm (71-106 lb.in).

^ Tighten secondary air injection manifold tube nuts to: 38-42 Nm (28-30 lb.ft).

^ Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamps to: 2 Nm (18 lb.in).
