Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
REMOVALNOTE: This engine uses a one-piece crankshaft rear seal, which must be replaced with the same type. The complete seal is replaceable without removing the crankshaft.
1. Remove transaxle assembly from vehicle
2. Remove flexplate.
3. Position seal remover T95P-6701-EH, or equivalent, on end of crankshaft, then rotate tool clockwise to thread remover into seal lip until tight.
4. Install impact slide hammer T50T-100-A, or equivalent, into remover and pull seal from engine block.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean and inspect all sealing surfaces.
2. Lubricate crankshaft flange and oil seal bore with engine assembly lubricant D9AZ-19579-D, or equivalent.
3. Install new seal using seal replacer tool T82L-6701-A, and adapter tool T91P-6701-A, or equivalents.
4. Tighten bolts in an alternating sequence to evenly seat seal. Ensure seal is flush to rear of block or does not protrude more than 0.020 in.
