This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to update the vehicle model years.

ISSUE:
An exterior "squeak" from the rear of the vehicle may be caused by a rear window moulding lip that binds on the window glass.

ACTION:
Determine if the squeaks are from the rear window moulding area. Repair the squeaks. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE





1. "Rough-up" the underside of the rear window moulding lip along the roof and pillars with 120 grit sandpaper, refer to Figure 1.








2. Apply Krytox GPL205 Grease along the entire underside of the rear window moulding lip. Apply between the painted surface of the roof and pillars, including the two (2) lower corners, using a plastic squeegee. Refer to Figures 2 and 3.

3. Drill out the rivets that attach the two (2) rear glass stops to the package tray and remove the stops.

NOTE:
TO ENSURE THE DRILL BIT DOES NOT CONTACT OR DAMAGE THE REAR WINDOW GLASS, BE SURE TO INSTALL A DRILL BIT STOP OR MARK THE BIT SO YOU CAN DRILL TO A MAXIMUM DEPTH OF 1/2" (12.7 mm).





4. Plug the holes with RTV Silicone Sealer (E7TZ-19562-A). Refer to Figure 4.

5. With the decklid closed, determine whether the decklid is contacting the rear glass moulding. If there is contact, refit the decklid (upward and aft) until there is approximately 1.0 mm decklid-to-moulding lip clearance.
