^ NOISE - "POPPING" FROM FRONT DOOR GLASS WHEN LOWERING - CARS BUILT BEFORE 6/15/90
FORD: 1989-90 PROBE

ISSUE: A "popping" noise may be heard when lowering the front window. This is caused by the glass-up stop rubber mounting pad sticking to the glass mechanism.

ACTION: Install duct tape around the rubber portion of the glass-up stop. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to the 1990 Probe Shop Manual, page 42-08-8, for service details.

Figure 1:

2. Locate the glass-up stop, Figure 1.
3. Remove the glass-up stop.

4. Obtain a piece of "duct tape". Cut to approximately 1/2" (12 mm) wide by 5" (127 mm) long.

5. Wrap the duct tape around the rubber portion of the glass-up stop.

6. Install the stop and check for proper position.

NOTE: THE END OF THE DUCT TAPE MUST BE AT THE TOP OF THE STOP BECAUSE THE STEEL GUIDE ON THE GLASS CAN PULL THE TAPE LOOSE.

7. Re-install the front door trim panel.
