Speed Control Switch - Revision

90ford22 Article No. 90-15-6
SPEED CONTROL - REVISED MAIN CONTROL AND RESUME FUNCTIONS - GL & GT MODELS
FORD: 1990 PROBE
ISSUE: The speed control main switch and RESUME functions have been revised for all 1990 Probe GL and GT models built from Job # 1 1990. It is important that the customer is made aware of these changes.

ACTION: Be sure that the customer is aware of the following speed control operational changes. Also, make note of these changes in your 1990 Probe Shop Manual, Section 37-01.

1990 GL & GT MODELS

The changes made to the 1990 Probe GL & GT speed control system are ...
^ The main switch is a contact type. It must be reactivated if the ignition switch is turned off.
^ The SET function cannot be activated for approximately 2 seconds after the main speed control switch has been engaged.
^ The RESUME function will not work (memory drop) if the vehicle speed drops below approximately 25 mph, even if the main switch is still on.
1990 LX MODELS - 3.0L ENGINE, NEW FOR 1990

Although this engine is new for the 1990 Probe LX model, the speed control functions will continue to operate as follows:

^ The main switch is the latching type. Once it is depressed, it will stay activated; even if the ignition switched is cycled.

^ The SET function is not delayed, as on the GL and GT models.

^ The RESUME function will continue to retain memory, even if the vehicle speed is zero. It will be erased if the ignition switch is cycled.
