Electronic Control Assembly (ECA)

The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) receives input from the following signals:

IGNITION DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR

The Ignition Diagnostic Monitor (IDM) circuit is an Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) input from the negative terminal of the ignition coil. The input is a comparison reference, enabling the ECA to determine if the ignition primary circuit has an intermittent fault.

PROFILE IGNITION PICKUP

The Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) signal is created in the Hall Effect and Stator assembly and indicates crankshaft position and engine rpm. The PIP signal is fed to both the Thick Film Integrated (TFI-IV) module and the Electronic Control Assembly (ECA).

SPARK OUTPUT

The Spark Output (SPOUT) is the signal received from the input sensors. The (SPOUT) signifies the engine operating condition electronically and is sent back to the ignition module for comparison with the Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) signal.
