Stone Guard Protector Decal - Peeling

90ford40 PAINT - LOWER BODY STONE PROTECTOR DECAL PEELING OR LIFTING OFF - GL & LX MODELS

ISSUE: The lower body stone guard protector decal may peef or lift up at the forward edge. This may be caused by poor adhesive factors.

ACTION: Install new lower body stone guard decals with better adhesive. Refer to the following procedure for service details.


REMOVAL

1. Use a heat gun to warm the stone guard surface for easier removal from the body panel.

2. Remove the original stone guard decal and throw it away.

NOTE: SHEET METAL DAMAGE MAY AFFECT THE ABILITY OF THE NEW STONE GUARD DECAL TO STICK TO THE BODY PANEL.

INSTALLATION

1. Prepare a mixture of 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.

2. Clean the lower body panel surfaces with a mixture of 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water.

3. Wipe the surfaces with a clean dry cloth.

4. Remove the protector paper from the "sticky" side of the stone guard decal.

5. Spray the cleaning solution on the surface of the stone guard decal.
6. Place the stone guard decal in the proper position on the body panel.

7. Spray the cleaning solution on the surface of the stong guard.

8. While holding the stone guard decal in position, use a small squeegee or similar tool to remove all liquid and air bubbles.

NOTE: STARTING AT THE CENTER OF THE STONE GUARD DECAL AND WORKING TO THE EDGES IS THE EASIEST METHOD TO REMOVE LIOUID AND AIR BUBBLES.

9. After using the squeegee to remove liquid and air bubbles, wipe the surfaces dry with a clean dry cloth.

10. Remove the outer protective cover from the stone guard decal. Wipe the surface again and confirm that all edges are firmly in place.
