Global Positioning System - Intermittent Loss of Signal

GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) -
INTERMITTENT LOSS OF SIGNAL OR SLOW TO
UPDATE - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 4/2/2013

FORD:
2013 Escape

ISSUE
Some 2013 Escape vehicles equipped with either
MyFord or MyFord Touch and built on or before
4/2/2013 may exhibit an intermittent loss of GPS
signal or slow to update.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Determine the vehicle build date.

a. If the vehicles was built on or before 11/2/2012, proceed to Step 2.

b. If the vehicles built after 11/2/2012, proceed to Step 3.

2. Replace the global positioning system module (GPSM) and bracket assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 415-00.

3. Replace the GPSM Bracket only, using double-sided tape to secure the original GPSM onto the new bracket. The new bracket is approximately 50 mm (2") longer. Refer to WSM, Section 415-00.

a. Remove foam piece from bracket and secure to top of GPSM.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
