Diagnostic Routine P
Diagnostic Routine P
Diagnostic Overview
A Single Power Window is Inoperative - Rear, XLT or Limited
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Passenger Window Control Switch - Rear for window control switch operation.
All passenger window motors are bi-directional. Window direction is determined by the polarity of the voltage and ground being supplied to the motor from the window control switch(es).
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE SUSPECT REAR POWER WINDOW OPERATION FROM LH (Left Hand) FRONT CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition ON.
2. Attempt to operate the suspect rear window from the LH (Left Hand) front window control switch.
Does the rear window operate when using the LH (Left Hand) front window control switch?
2. CHECK THE FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH LOCK-OUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Suspect Rear Window Control Switch C701 (LH (Left Hand)) or C801 (RH (Right Hand)).
3. Ignition ON.
4. NOTE: Make sure the LH (Left Hand) window control switch lockout switch is in the UNLOCK position.
Measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
3. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Suspect Rear Window Control Switch C701 (LH (Left Hand)) or C801 (RH (Right Hand)).
3. Ignition ON.
4. Measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
4. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
5. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH FOR VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE LH (Left Hand) FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition ON.
2. For LH (Left Hand) rear window, while pressing and releasing the LH (Left Hand) front window control switch, measure:
3. For RH (Right Hand) rear window, while pressing and releasing the LH (Left Hand) front window control switch, measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the LH (Left Hand) front window control switch is pressed; and 0 volt when released?
6. CHECK FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE LH (Left Hand) FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Front Window Control Switch.
3. For LH (Left Hand) rear window, measure:
4. For RH (Right Hand) rear window, measure:
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
7. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH FOR VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE LH (Left Hand) FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Front Window Control Switch.
3. Ignition ON.
4. For LH (Left Hand) rear window, measure:
5. For RH (Right Hand) rear window, measure:
Is any voltage present?
8. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION
1. Ignition ON.
2. To check upward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:
3. To check downward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:
Does the rear window move up and/or down?
9. CHECK FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND WINDOW MOTOR
1. Disconnect: Suspect Rear Window Motor C703 (LH (Left Hand)) or C803 (RH (Right Hand)).
2. Measure
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
