Disassembly

1. If the transaxle case side transfer shaft bearing cup is damaged, install 307-577 on the bearing cup.





2. Install 204-069 (T81P-1104-C) and thread it into 307-577.





3. Using a wrench, turn the nut on 204-069 (T81P-1104-C) to remove the transfer shaft bearing cup from the transaxle case.





4. If the transaxle case side transfer shaft bearing cup was removed, using a suitable tool, punch a hole in the fluid dam.





5. If the transfer shaft bearing cup was removed, using a suitable dent puller, remove the fluid dam from the transaxle case.





6. Using a suitable tool, remove the halfshaft seal from the transaxle case.





7. If the transaxle case side differential bearing cup is damaged, install 307-586 on the bearing cup.

1. Position 307-586 in the transaxle case with the tabs on 307-586 aligned with the slots in the transaxle case.

2. Expand 307-586 by hand.

3. While holding 307-586 in the expanded position with the tabs in the slots of the transaxle case, tighten the nut.






8. Using a suitable press, press the differential bearing cup out of the transaxle case.





9. Remove the 2 bolts and the park pawl pin retainer.





10. NOTE: Note the orientation of the park pawl spring for assembly.
Remove the park pawl spring.





11. Remove the park pawl pin and the park pawl.





12. Using a magnet, remove the park pawl abutment pins and the abutment.





Assembly

1. If the transfer shaft fluid dam and bearing race were removed during disassembly, assemble 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-583 and install a new transfer shaft fluid dam on 307-583 with 205-153 (T80T-4000-W).





2. Using 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-583 , install the transfer shaft fluid dam in the transaxle case.





3. Inspect the transfer shaft fluid dam to be sure it is seated evenly into the transaxle case.





4. Using 307-576 , press the transfer shaft bearing cup in the transaxle case.





5. If removed, install a new differential bearing race on 307-576.





6. Using 307-576 , 307-541 and 204-029 (T77F-1176-A) , press the differential bearing cup in the transaxle case.





7. Install the park pawl abutment and the pins.





8. Install the park pawl and the pin.





9. Install the park pawl spring.





10. Install the park pawl pin retainer and the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).





11. Remove the torque converter housing differential and transfer shaft bearing races to select a new differential or transfer shaft shim. REFER to Torque Converter Housing .
