Rear Suspension




Shock Absorber

Removal

NOTICE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

1. Remove and discard the shock absorber upper insulator and nut.

1. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) side shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Remove the storage area rubber mat.

2. Remove the access cover.

- Remove and discard the shock absorber upper insulator and nut.






2. Remove the wheel and tire. REFER to Wheel and Tire .

3. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stabilizer bar link stud from turning while removing the nut.
Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link upper nut and disconnect the link from the bar.

4. Remove and discard the shock absorber lower bolt and remove the shock absorber.

Installation

1. NOTICE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

Position the shock absorber and install a new shock absorber lower bolt.
- Tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).

2. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stabilizer bar link stud from turning while installing the nut.
Position the stabilizer bar link to the bar and install a new stabilizer bar link upper nut.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

3. Install the wheel and tire. REFER to Wheel and Tire .

4. Install a new shock absorber upper insulator and nut.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).

1. Install the access cover.

2. Install the storage area rubber mat.
