Safety Belt Retractor - 2nd Row, Center

Removal

WARNING: After any crash, all of the following safety belt assemblies and attaching hardware must be inspected by an authorized dealer to verify correct function:
- Retractors
- Buckles
- Front safety belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar) (if equipped)
- Safety belt shoulder belt height adjusters (if equipped)
- Child safety seat tether bracket assemblies
- ALR (Automatic Locking Retractor) feature for child safety seats (passenger seating positions only)

If any safety belt assembly is damaged, does not operate correctly or does not pass all of the Functional Tests in the Component Tests, a new safety belt assembly must be installed. If any safety belt assembly attaching areas are damaged or distorted, the sheet metal must be restored to its original structural integrity and new safety belt assembly and attaching hardware must be installed. Failure to install new safety belt assemblies and attaching hardware may increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.


1. Remove the 60 percent seat. REFER to Seat .

2. From under the seat, detach the cushion cover J-clips.





3. Pull the cushion cover outboard retainer out from between the cushion frame and riser.





4. Release the 2 cushion cover retainers from the rear of the cushion frame.





5. Remove the cushion foam pad and cover assembly.

6. Remove 2 screws and the safety belt bezel.





7. NOTE: Without armrest shown, with similar.
Open the backrest cover.





1. Detach the backrest cover J-clips at the bottom of the seat backrest.
2. Remove the 4 pin-type retainers.
3. Detach the 4 backrest cover inner J-clips attached to the hard back panel.
4. Detach the hook-and-loop strips.

8. If equipped with an armrest, push the buttons in on the head restraint guide sleeves and remove the center head restraint.

9. If equipped with an armrest, remove the 2 center head restraint guide sleeves. REFER to Head Restraint Guide Sleeve .

10. If equipped with an armrest, pull the backrest cover out.





11. NOTE: The center head restraint must be removed to remove the armrest assembly.
If equipped with an armrest, remove the armrest.

1. Remove the 3 screws.

2. Remove the 3 armrest-to-backrest frame bolts.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

3. Detach the 2 retaining clips.

4. Pull out at the front and remove the armrest assembly.






12. If equipped with an armrest, detach the J-clips in the armrest pocket.





13. NOTICE: Use care when separating the backrest cover from the hook-and-loop strip or the hook-and-loop strip can be torn from the backrest foam pad.

Inside out the backrest cover, separate the hook-and-loop strips and remove the 3 rows of 3 hog rings.





14. NOTE: Without inflatable belts shown, with similar.

NOTE: At installation, make sure the safety belt is not twisted.
Remove the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt. Position the safety belt anchor out from behind the recliner.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





15. Lift the backrest foam pad and remove the safety belt retractor bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





16. Push the backrest foam pad and cover aside and remove the 2 safety belt guide bolts.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).





17. Route the safety belt and buckle out through the backrest foam pad and cover and remove the retractor assembly with the safety belt guide.

18. Remove the safety belt guide from the safety belt retractor assembly.

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
