Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

1. Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the PMI (Programmable Module Installation) procedure. REFER to Module Configuration .

2. Remove the cowl panel. REFER to Cowl Panel .

3. Disconnect the 2 PCM (Powertrain Control Module) electrical connectors.

- Detach the wiring harness retainer from the cowl.






4. Remove the 2 nuts and the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and bracket assembly.





5. Remove the 4 bolts and remove the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) from the bracket.





Installation

1. Install the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to the bracket and install the 4 bolts.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





2. Install the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and bracket assembly and the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





3. Connect the 2 PCM (Powertrain Control Module) electrical connectors.

- Attach the wiring harness retainer from the cowl.






4. Install the cowl panel. REFER to Cowl Panel .

5. Restore the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration restore steps of the PMI (Programmable Module Installation) procedure. REFER to Module Configuration .

6. Reprogram the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System). Carry out the Parameter Reset procedure. Vehicles without IA (Intelligent Access), REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset. Vehicles with IA (Intelligent Access), REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset.

7. After completing the repairs, use the scan tool to perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure, following the on-screen instructions.
