Blind Spot Module: Service and Repair




Side Obstacle Detection (SOD) Module

NOTE: SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) shown, SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) similar.










Removal

1. NOTE: If installing a new module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool prior to removing the module. This information must be downloaded into the new module after installation.
Upload the module configuration information from the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) into the scan tool by following the scan tool on screen instructions.



2. Remove the rear bumper cover. REFER to Bumper Cover - Rear .

3. Remove the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right).

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

2. Remove the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) bolt.

Installation

1. Install the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right).

1. Install the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) bolt.
- Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

2. Connect the electrical connector.

2. Install the rear bumper cover. REFER to Bumper Cover - Rear .

3. If installing a new module, download the module configuration information from the scan tool to the new SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) by following the scan tool on screen instructions.
