Diagnostic Overview
The Air Bag Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Air Bag Warning Indicator .
If the air bag indicator lamp request message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the air bag warning indicator to its last state (on or off) based upon the last known good message received.
If the air bag indicator lamp request message is missing or is deemed invalid for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0151:00 in continuous memory and defaults the air bag warning indicator on.
Pinpoint Test
1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE RCM (Restraints Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the RCM (Restraints Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
3. CARRY OUT THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) RESTRAINTS OUTPUT CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, view the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
3. Select the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) (AIRBAG_LMP) PID (Parameter Identification). Command the air bag warning indicator on and off. Observe the air bag warning indicator.
Does the air bag warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
