Diagnostic Routine Q
Diagnostic Overview
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
NOTE: If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 sets in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), other symptoms can also be present such as an inoperative high beam indicator, RH/LH turn indicators, instrument panel backlighting, and door ajar indication.
REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Warning Indicator .
If the tire pressure status message is missing for 5 seconds or less, the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator remains in its last indication state (on or off) based on the last known good message received.
If the tire pressure status message is missing for more than 5 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 and flashes the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator for approximately 75 seconds then illuminates the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE
1. Verify the tire pressure in all tires meets the recommended tire pressures on the VC (Vehicle Certification) label. REFER to Vehicle Certification (VC) Codes .
Do all the tires meet the recommended tire pressures?
2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) MODULE SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) module self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
5. CARRY OUT THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, view the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
3. Select the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator PID (Parameter Identification) (TPMWARN_LMP). Command TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator on and off. Observe the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator.
Does the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
