Diagnostic Overview
The Door Ajar Message Center Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
NOTE: If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 sets in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), other symptoms can also be present such as inoperative high beam indicator, turn indicators or the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator can be always on.
REFER to Door Ajar Message Center Indicator .
If the driver door, passenger door, driver rear door, passenger rear door or liftgate ajar status message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the door ajar indication remains in its last indication state (on or off) based upon the last known good message received.
If the driver door, passenger door, driver rear door, passenger rear door or liftgate ajar status message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 and defaults the door ajar message center warning indicator on or active.
Pinpoint Test
1. VERIFY THE OPERATION OF THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION (WRENCH) AND ENGINE OVER-TEMPERATURE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATORS
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: PCM (Powertrain Control Module) C175B (3.5L).
3. Disconnect: PCM (Powertrain Control Module) C175B (2.0L GTDI (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection)).
4. Ignition ON.
5. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center indicators rotate through each of the warnings. Allow the displays to rotate through each display while determining whether the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and over-temperature message center warning indicator is active.
Observe the message center or integrated display area of the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) connected and disconnected.
Do the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and engine over-temperature warning message center indicators remain off when the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is connected and become active with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) disconnected?
2. CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
1. Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
Do the interior lamps operate correctly with each door?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 recorded?
4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
