Thermostatic Expansion Valve Manifold and Tube Assembly - 2.0L GTDI, Auxiliary Climate Control

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Material(s)






Removal

1. Recover the refrigerant. REFER to Air Conditioning (AC) System Recovery, Evacuation, and Charging .

2. Remove the 4 strut tower brace nuts and remove the strut tower brace.
- To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).





3. Remove the cowl panel grille. REFER to Cowl Panel Grille .

4. Remove the engine wiring harness retainer from the bulkhead.

- Disconnect the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), engine harness electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness retainer.

- Push the wiring harness retainer tab in and slide the wiring harness up and out of the bulkhead.






5. Remove the evaporator outlet line fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.

- Discard the O-ring seal and gasket seal.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).





6. Position aside the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) manifold and tube assembly line.

1. Detach the receiver/drier outlet line clip.

2. Remove the receiver/drier outlet fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.

- Discard the O-ring seal and gasket seal.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

3. Position aside the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) manifold and tube assembly line.






7. Remove the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) manifold and tube bracket bolt, and completely loosen the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) manifold and tube clamp bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





8. Remove the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) manifold tube assembly.

- Remove the TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) fitting and disconnect the fitting.

- Discard the O-ring seals.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Install new gaskets seals and O-rings seals.

2. Add the correct amount of clean PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) oil to the refrigerant system, REFER to Refrigerant Oil Adding .

2. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. REFER to Air Conditioning (AC) System Recovery, Evacuation, and Charging .
